Camo cloth tape for a backing?
« on: January 16, 2010, 02:43:00 PM »
Could camo cloth tape be used for a backing? I've seen silk, drywall tape, burlap, etc. used.
Step lightly, and shoot a trad bow.

Most camo tape has adhesive on it and will work as camo but not very effective as a backing. When silk, linen, etc are used a matrix is formed with the glue and cloth that has enough strength to hold down splinters.
Make the most of all that comes and the least of all that goes!

I tried gluing the cloth camo tape to a bow as a backing and it didn't work out.  But I glued it with the sticky side against the wood.  I don't think the glue and adhesive worked together.  After it dried it peeled right off.  It looked pretty good though up to that point!

i bought a mossy oak cloth wrap (non adhesive) and used it as a backing to hold down fibers.  i usesd TBIII and it worked fine.  you have to be absolutely be careful to keep watch for bubbles.  they only way to fix that afterwards is a small hole with an exacto knife and insert super glue and push out the air, it holds well, but doesn't look all that pretty.
