Max riser accent lam thickness

At what thickness should you stop thinking of a lam strip and start thinking of cutting and shaping (bandsaw and spindle sander) when designing a multilayer riser? I guesss this would be based on the assumption one has resaw and thickness sanding capability to hit any desired thickness. I imagine you guys have your own rule like example: 125 thk. Is wood species a big factor in the max thickness?

The shape of the contour will have a big effect. Normally .060-.070 is as thick as I want to bend.

Like Marty,if its a tighter radius,.060 is plenty. On these bows,I went .125 cause it was a gentle bend...

Yea I sort of forgot the radius factor. Kenny, that look was what I had in mind. Are those inside riser cuts freestyle or done on a radius jig like on po boy site?

Those are freestyle,I made a jig,but it is not that hard to do without one. Hate the setup time it takes on my jig!
