Sanding and finishing fiberglass

How heavy the sandpaper on the first sanding? I'm guessing 400 grit on the finish up. Maybe tung oil finish then? huh?

I use 220, then 320 and have finished some with 400. I know some guys who only use the 220 and have nice looking bows. I have only used Minwax Spar Urethane in the spray can for finish. If you use the search function you will find a lot of great information

I use 220 and 360 grid and after that I use Scotch brite pads. That stuff is just perfect.

About 320 is as fine as I go also.  Always has came out fine.

I go to 150 and stop.  Finish stick better.

On my own bows,150 is it,I like a flat finish anyway for huntin.

If I'm already at the poundage I want I'll knock the sheen off with 220 and quit.  If I want to lose a pound or two I hit it hard with 150 then 220.  Finish sticks better the courser you leave it and you'll never see the fine sanding marks unless you go with a thin coverage of high gloss finish.  Chad
