Bear bow decals

Hi Any body out there know where I can get decals for some old Bear bows I'm restoring? Also whats the best way to strip off the old finish??  Thanks Scott

There is someone here that has them, I got some a year ago for a supermag with fascor. Maybe someone else knows his handle.

Hi Scott,

The finish comes off very easily most of the time with 150 grit sand paper. Just be careful on the limb edges and watch as you get through the finish on the glass. You will be able to tell very easily when you have gotten through the finish and into the glass. Once you have most of the finish off, switch over to 220 grit and sand the whole bow going with the grain on the riser and with the length of the limbs. I recently stripped one in about an hour or so.

You can get new transfers from Al H. I'll find his email addy in the History/Collecting forum and post it for you on here.

Good luck with your refinishing. It's very addicting!!

Well it seems I can't get to my address book due to being on a different computer. Hopefully mine will be back from the repair shop tomorrow.

Hi Trad gang anybody come up with an address for the Bear decals? Also I just saw a neet little thickness sander that might come in handy for you guys who grind your own laminates. I'ts listed in the Micro-Mark catalog. There web. is  www.micromark.com.  Thanks for any help with the decals!!!

I got in  touch with Al. He is a wanderful person to deal with. He's send the decals for my kodiak mag. I wish the world was full of trusting people like Al. Cant wait to finish the bow. Thanks for everybodies help!
