frosty textured finish

I would really like to be able to give my bows a frosty textured finish... I have owned several bows with this type of finish but have no idea how to achieve it...I'm not talking about the splatter finish on a Widow...

You have to do the finish as normal for the first few coats but on the last one hold the spray gun a few feet away and spray it. This allows the finish to collect into larger particals and slightly start to dry before landing and they will not level when they hit the surface of the bow leaving a texture as it dries. You may need to turn up the volume so that it spits and sputters a little.

It's best to use a catalized finish and let it set up a little more than normal by the time you make that last coat. It works best just before the gun won't spray the thick stuff well. It just makes more clean up labor. I'm not familiar with the splatter finish on widows.

I don't use a gun to finish...it would reek havoc on my motorcycle and everything else in my shop...     I do have a couple of guns and even a few air brushes but haven't tried to use them... The only fancy finish I have is Thunderbird 2part...everything else is simply wipe on or shaker can...I usually do several coats of hard high gloss and then a couple of top coats of satin, but I would like to try the frost type finish...

Just hold the can at about twice the normal distance from your work.  Experiment a little and you will figure it out.
