Take down long bow
« on: March 09, 2010, 01:31:00 AM »
Hello, I am making limbs for a t/d longbow riser. Has anyone built t/d's where the limbs come straight up off the riser rather than at a backwards angle??

Personally, no I haven't.  You won't have a problem with doing it.  I've seen 3-piece straight or reflexed longbows in the past.  The deflexed risers are just for the r/d longbows.  Settle on the profile you want, then design the riser and limbs accordingly.

The one problem I see if you are going for a d/r design is you will have to build the deflex in your limbs or have a straight limb with just an inch+ of reflex other wise it will get twisty on you. You could also do a belly mounted riser like B widow.

I just finished up an alternate riser for my T/D longbow which I used a straight limb pad angle.  Just as BenBow said, It had very little reflex built into the limb.

Basically it was the Bingham "shallow" longbow limb bolted onto a back mounted, zero limb pad angle riser.  It works good.

Alright thanks and well I was thinking of reflexing just a little but other than that mostly straight in the limbs. Hope it works
