Shrew Bow quiver???

I got a question for you guys. I just got a Thunderhorn Small fry quiver for my Shrew Gold. I love the quiver, the craftsmanship is incredible and the colors match my bow perfect. But when I put it on and loaded it with arrows I took the bow out to shoot and it made the bow really loud and actually added handshock. I took it off and shot the bow and it was fine, put the quiver back on and once again the bow is loud and shocky. So I re-aranged the quiver and fiddled with brace height and all that and it didnt change.
I have had tons of different bow quivers on different bows and usually the added mass helps with sound and shock but this one on this bow did the exact opposite.
Anyone else ever experience this???

Lewis, Id the bow is 56in or less you should SELL it right away. Let me know how much you need. LOL. Is the noise coming from the feathers rubbing togather?? Shoot with the quiver on bt no arrows in it. Add arrows one at a time. If you have the noise with no shafts be sure the quiver is tight on the fadeouts.

LOL, Dan this bow aint going nowhere! LOL
But I did try shooting with just the quiver with no arrows and its the same noise. Its like a BOOONG noise. Kinda hard to describe with words. HAHA
And I also moved the quiver up and down as much as I could with the same results. I am at a loss.

Have you contacted Duane at Thunderhorn? It's likely a "too short bow" problem, but if anyone can solve it it's Duane, and he's always glad to help. I have the same quiver and love it. I've hunt mine of at least a dozen bows and no problems, no shock or noise, with any of them. But the shortest is 60" longbow. Hang in. You'll figure it out and have the best of both worlds. I currently have a Shrew on order. dave

Lewis,
Is your quiver close enough to the handle? If you keep them below the fadeouts, I haven't ever had that problem.

Yeah I have never had a problem either thats whats so weird. I had it at one point as low as it would go and it was about 2" down from the fadeouts. Thats as low as it can go or it wont fit, the strap has not been cut so thats as far as I can go.
Oh and the bow is 58" if that matters at all. I really like the looks of this Small fry so I would like to figure it out. I will try and get in touch with Thunderhorn and see what they say.

Well I went out and tinkered some more this morning and got it fixed. The problem is kinda weird though.
When i got the bow it had a 450+ string on it, but it was a little worn. So I made up a 8125 string for it. It was quiet on the shrew with no quiver. Well while tinkering I put the old 450+ string back on it and shot it with the quiver and it was quiet. I put the 8125 string back on and shot and it was loud again.
Whats weird is the 8125 string was quiet without the quiver off but got loud when I put the quiver on.
Oh well I guess I will have to get me some 450+ string material! LOL

I have had the exact same thing happen on more than one bow with the Boa.
I use Ron's quiver on my Samurai

Lewis, I was going to ask about the string because you didn't say what string was on the bow. Keep your brace height over 7" and you'll do fine with the 450+. If the old string looks worn wax it, that 450+ is tough stuff. I'll PM the instruction sheet to you.

Thanks for the reply Terry. This quiver is really nice but is the only one i have had this problem with. I have tried EFA's, Great Northerns, Selways and some homemade stuff and never had this problem before. Its very strange.

Thanks Ron i got your email.
Yeah I normally use TS+ and just had gotten some 8125. I tried the TS+ and it was loud on the bow. I tried the 8125 and it was great...without the quiver! LOL
I have found that this Shrew likes a brace right at 7.5" and with the 450+ its dead quiet. I might wind up getting one of the Kanati quivers to put on it to make the package complete!

The Kanati is a great quiver and fits the Shrew bows very nicely. Of coarse the Custom one's with the Shrew logo looks even better on the Shrew bows.

Lewis, I just got back from Nixa picking out my new Widow laminations. They told me they had a bow that was really loud. Put a new string on it and it was perfect. On my Shrew I only shoot Ron's string and the Kanati quiver. That pair is so quite its unreal. Now since you don't want to sell yours I am going to have to talk to Mama and Ron. LOL
