dymondwood and actionwood

What is the difference between the 2. I used dymond and it sucked, chips very easy and will break.

Actionwood is not conpressed as much as dymondwood.  Not as dense.  The colors of dymondwood are more brilliant.  Chad

Are they made from the same type of wood?

I think dymondwood is impregnated by using a vacumm and and actionwood is just strips of dry hardwood pressed together. The impregnation of resin into the wood fibers of the dymondwood probably give it the brittle chipping characteristic that you saw. The actionwood wood fibers not being impregnated with resin retain the natural durability of wood. They can use a variation of types of hardwoods. Mostly birch for actionwood I think.

I like the Dymondwood because it adds some weight and strength without mass. Ya just might have to be a little careful how you work it. Haven't had any problems with a complete bow yet.
