Torges UBR10 rasp. . .WOW!
« on: February 12, 2008, 06:36:00 AM »
Dean sent me us a rasp to try a month or so ago.  Here is the email I sent Dean with our feedback.

"Dean,

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you earlier.  We don't get a lot of opportunity to work selfbows these days and I waited to use the rasp.  I've
been working on a couple of osage selfbows and have used the tool extensively.  It works as advertised.  Very well done!!  I especially like
the fact that it does not fill like a 50.  That was always my complaint on the 49 and 50.  This rasp self cleans most of the time and cuts very well with both sides.

Any chance you will be coming out with a half-round?"

This is the best bowyers rasp I have used. . bar none.  It moves wood, stays clean and leaves small tool marks.  What more could you ask of a tool?

I used one this past weekend and it is one heck of a tool.  I was amazed at how little pressure you had to use. Mine was borrowed but I will be getting one very soon.  Spot on assessment Mike.

Mike,
I have used Deans file on several selfbows so far and agree it works great, better then my #49 on the limbs.  Like you already said, if there were two versions with half round on one side it would be even better.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

I'd certainly like to see a half-round version  :D
