burlap backings
« on: April 25, 2010, 12:10:00 PM »
so ive used burlap to back my last few bows, figuring id at least try it and see how it works out. my experience with it hasnt been horrible, but wasnt great either. ive found that the burlap takes alot of glue to attach, and when it comes time to round corners its a pain if you didnt use alot of glue because the burlap will be soft and strands will pull out of the weave. The worst thing ive found about burlap is that it hides all too well whats going on on the back of the bow. ive had both bows develop cracks and in both cases it was right at the edge of the burlap and i couldnt really see how bad they were. anyone else have similar experiences with burlap or is this just happening to me?
