My dad past away last Summer and I asked my Mom the other day if I could have his old Bow. I never saw my dad shot this bow I new it was a old Bear bow.
It was all painted over with green, brown and black paint even the medallion in the riser was all covered up. On the top limb it said Bear Glass-powered Kodiak Hunter on the other it had A Bear archery with the patten # on the riser it has a s/n KT36055 AMO-60" 45#.
I took some very fine steel wool and some Denatured Alcohol and started rubbing on that old flat paint, I must say that has brought this bow to life. It has some awesome looking wood in the riser as I rubbed over the S/N it came off but there it was again under the finish in the bow .
Now the question is is there away I can tell how old this bow is with the S/N ? Also should I spray some type of finish on this bow ? I would like to use it to hunt with some day. I'm sure this bow has never killed anything but a target.
I will post before and after pictures later.
Thanks.
