My new vintage Fred Bear
« on: May 16, 2010, 11:06:00 PM »
I just recently purchased a vintage Fred Bear Magnum Special on ****.  I received it and one of the tips is separating.  Is this an easy fix? Should I bring it in to have it fixed?

by tips seperating do you mean the overlay is coming off or is it the actual lam? if its the tip overlay you can use superglue to glue it in place or fill the gap. id suggest posting a pic and maybe seeing if you can get an idea of how bad it is and if anyone has a good solution, or can point you to someone who can fix it right as rain.

The pic above is the tip i am referring too.  Forgive me for my ignorance, but I am brand spanking new to recurves.  The black and white part of the tip is separating from the limb. Hope this makes more sense to my question.  Thanks

yep the black and white is the overlay. you can use superglue to fill the gap then clamp it down and cure it. fill any gaps left with superglue and you should be good to go.

SUPER GLUE!!!!! The watery stuff!! Epoxy is ok,but don't use Gorilla glue.
