smooth on shelf life, again!

wonder if anyone has had their part A the white one go 'waxy' not hard as such just stiff? Mine has been standing 18 months but last night was cold not zero but cold. Is this tickets? last batch finished sooner.

Mine has gone stiff.  I still used it for a tip glueon.  Seemed to work.  But I am going to toss the rest.

lotta work[even if its cheap] --to use questionable glue!!!
i use the scetchy stuff to glue knife scales and stuff that don't have a lot of stress on the glue joints

I spoke to a gentleman about such things at woodcraft, and his reply was sensible and logical:

Oxygen. I'm going to assume you have a void at the top of your can now that you've used it, and of course air will fill that void, which contains oxygen, which will help "cure" your stuff sonner than you'd like.

The answer to the problem he gave me was 2 methods. Either put the remainder of your product in a can with no void at the top after use (switching cans 10 times doesn't make sense to me) or you can get a can of Bloxygen:

I believe Smooth On has a 6 month shelf life, of course you have to store it correctly..I keep mine in my temp controlled house.  I write date received and date opened on lid.

I wonder if that canned stuff they sell at the grocery stores for spraying in wine bottles would work? I believe it is nitrogen. They use it to take the oxygen out so the wine can be stored and not go bad. It is a lot cheaper than the stuff WoodCrafts sells.

So basically what you're saying is, if you have TIME to build a few bows a month, the product won't have TIME to go bad.

Maybe you should glue a load of bows and then take your time finishing the blanks whenever you feel like it?

Thats my plan in a few weeks.  I have a bamboo backed IPE, and two BBO, and HBO I want to glue up.
