I know quite a few guys that have had decent luck from tree stands..dont see any reason why it wouldnt work...decoy wise all weve used is a lawn ornament rabbit with some cotton balls strung to his ears...one of the keys even if you are in a tree stand is if you can see him stopp calling unless he acts like hes not gonna come any closer and use it as a last resort..lips squeaks are what we usually switch to if we can see the coyote...Man ya really got my blood pumping on this one Im gonna have to find someone to go with me this weekend...

I've been doing alot of reading about yotes over at predatormasters.com check it out these people eat sleep and *&%# coyotes and any other type of [redator. I'm sure you may even be able to find someone in your area willing to show you the ropes.
good luck.

I was planning on doing a little pig scouting this weekend, but I might just wander down to Sportsman's Warehouse and check the calls/decoys out. I've never hunted 'yotes, but have seen a fair amount out by I-5 and hwy 99 on the road to Yuba City. Would you pick a coyote call over a squealing rabbit during the day?

Ive never noticed time of day mattering for different calls...its usually a curiosity thing over a hunger thing anyway...the coyote "rut".. :D  ...does go from end of january through february so if ya do the right yote vocalizations ya might be surprised what ya get i think.
