Sinew Sepiration am I stupid
« on: July 21, 2010, 11:54:00 PM »
I maybe an idiot(My wife would concur), but I was putting a layer of sinew on the side of a bow today and had an extra bunch of sinew that was not needed. I always have trouble seperating deer leg sinew to what I would consider fine enough and decided to seperate after it was soaked and it came apart great. I can get it to seperate without tearing off the side and to individual strands smaller. Seemed to work great.

I have heard of people separating sinew wet but have never tried it.

just a side question for you two, but how much sinew does it take for a bow?  like, how many pieces?  I have four strips in the garage now, but I'm pretty sure that's not enough.  (not trying to hijack your thread, just curious)

Depending on how much you want to add to the draw weight. 4 leg sinews will give you one layer and will add protection but not much extra draw weight.
