tip overlays
« on: August 04, 2010, 06:08:00 PM »
working on my hickory selfbow, and was thinking about putting some antler tip overlays on. would it be safe to sand the tips flat to get a good mating surface since the tips dont bend and the stress is much less than the rest of the limb? ill be using TB3 to glue them on if i do end up adding them, and i know the glue lines have to be good.

Try to keep your flat spot on the limb tip the same as the intended size of the overlay. Cut your string groove in so the string lays over the wood and overlay material.
