2 fletch arrows???

Does anyone here use 2 fletched arrows.  I saw some today with just two opposite feathers and they flew really nicely and fast.  I was just wondering about people’s opinions on the issue.

Ive tried it with some big feathers. flew pretty well. thinking about fletching 2 fletch for stumping arrows.

If your bow is tuned they fly just like any other.I like 3 fletch best because I shoot broadheads but even with only one feather and a feild point I could shoot a round of 3d just fine and could do ok without the feather.

With a proper tuned bow you should be able to shoot bare shafts.

Now with a broadhead, you going to need something - whether it be 2,3,4 fletch to fix the planing broadhead.

2traxx was using some this weekend to hunt bunnies.  Gordy Mickens was using them years ago and on a properly tuned shaft, perfrom well

I played with them after seeing Jim from Centaur Archery shoot them. Fly great with a well tuned arrow and a field point. Tried them with broadheads. They did ok but, if they even got a little wet I really noticed the differnce.

Yeah he was shooting them when I was there today.  He said they do great in a cross wind. Maybe they are good for antelope and desert hunts, but not thick Oregon Roosevelt elk brush hunts in the rain. The sure do fly like crazy when dry though!

I tried shooting a southestern indian two fletched arrow several years ago. ( Hence the name "2fletch".) I was using primitive shafting at the time including rivercane and also dog fennel.

The dog fennel was a surprise. It's really a weed, but when it's properly dried out, works well. I once shoot a whole 3-D tournament with the same arrow of dog fennel and natural turkey feather that was 2 fletched.

It seemed like though most of the shafts flew well with the 2 fletch, some of them would not. With a fletching jig though, I believe that the results would be more consistant.

I've been thinking about 4 fletches with 2 large 4-5 inches and 2 small 2 fletches.

If you do try using 2 long and two short, be sure you report back on the results.

I've considered using 2 left and 2 right wing feathers to get a fluflu effect. It might be to much trouble though because then I'd have to change my handle to "2x2fletch".

I've been making kids arrows this way for a couple years.  They don't need much fletching to keep the front end ahead of the back end, and more just robs cast when we're "far-shootin".  I use short cut-offs from full-length feathers, wrapping 'em front and back with thread (without using a fletch tool).

Would you guys recommend a helical, or straight fletch? Helical makes sense to me.

wouldnt a strait 2 fletched arrow make it loop kinda like a paper airplane???

I believe that it would have a tendency to do that if one was left wing and the other rigt wing....and maybe you moved them toward the front of the arrow.

The arrow I saw was made right wing for a right handed shooter to slip through a gap left between the rest and plate.  The feathers were glued helical to encourage rotation.

i fletch with 2 feathers on primitive arrows and they fly fine.  wrap the back first and fold forward and then wrap the point end well.
