Clear Glass Update

I built a second clear glass bow with zebra wood veneers, with the same results. Small specks that are actually in the glass itself. Not really noticable but if the light is just right it shows, to me anyway. If the clear was over darker wood I think it would show more. I have noticed that a lot of custom bows with clear glass have a "frosted" type finish. This would help hide any inperfections in the glass. Do any of you guys know how to get this "frosted" effect?

Don't think it will help what you are describing.  I frost by holding the nozzle further away from the bow until the finish starts to crystalize before it hits the surface.

Spray your final finish from further away from your bow to get that frosted look- you are correct with the imperfections in clear glass being more pronounced when you use darker lams.

I had the same problem with the first bows i built with glass from bodnik. Specks and white stripes over the whole length of the limbs. I have seen the same on his bearpaw bows that he is selling. For the last two bows i have used Gordon glass that i got from Kenny and the difference is amazing. It costs a few bucks more but it's worth the money ten times. Now the colors of the veneers are bright and they really catch your eye.
