Bingham's blueprints

If I buy just the blue prints for the Bingham's 68" t/d longbow, does it come with plans for laying out the bow press or is that another set of plans? I'm looking to place an order and some of the stuff on the site is not explained very well.

Oh yeah, and the pressure strip - do you use just one between air hose and lams during glue up? Why do they list a formica pressure strip and a metal one?

If I recall correctly, the plan will show their version of the riser, the limb shape,form shape and spacings ,bout all you need.

The formica goes on the form for a smooth surface,and the metal goes on top of lam stack(with plastic between)

Some guys have used black glass also for the strip on the form.....

I dont put anything on my forms. I sand them smooth and fill any gaps with putty of some kind. Ive used spackling. as long as its smooth you wont have any trouble.  Not that theres anything wrong with the strip--I just dont feel the need.  Mark

I had wondered if the strip was really necessary but for a take down limb form the strip is only $5 so I just went ahead and got it. I can glue the strip right on the form and not have to fill any gaps that pop up in the plywood. However, I have read about plenty of other forms done they way you're describing, with just careful attention to filling in any gaps with bondo or some other material. Anyway, got all my stuff ordered from Bingham - hopefully it'll arrive sometime this coming week so I can get started.

If you use the router/template method, bend a stiff pc of glass or a good metal yardstick around the template before routing. It will reveal any flat spots in the template.

You can't always see or feel them...

Don't ask how I know this...      :p

I have glued a 1/8 piece of tempered masonite to my form to fill any gaps. Makes for a cheap and fast fix. I used smooth-on but I am sure titebond would work just as well.
