Riser shape problem

So I got carried away with the drum sander shaping the belly side of my riser. Fades are nice and see through thin, but the shape back at the handle has too much curvature for the belly laminations to conform to the shape.

 

I've seen a build along Kenny M did where he puts the belly glass right through the handle and adds wood to the belly to finish out the grip.  Would it be better to try that or scrap this one and start over with a new piece of wood???

Disappointing as I was hoping to glue this up over the weekend.

How thick are your belly lams? You can modify those ramps without affecting your handle section, and make them more lam friendly.

If you bring the riser with you this afternoon I think we can fix it, If not, I have extra riser material.

Lane, the deflex riser is exactly why I went that way.
Strait bows have a more gentle radius,but on deflex you can end up too short on the flat of the riser on belly side. I like a little more heel on my grip than I could get without the overlays. After I did one that way, I love the look of it!  

Great that you have a couple builders close to help each other and brainstorm new ideas!!

That one can be save pretty easy. The top of the belly ramp needs to be flattened out-here is what mine look like.

I don't have that measurement with me. In that photo, he tapers destined for the belly and the belly glass are under the riser. It looks goofy, but I just did that to put it away in a safe place for the night.

I am headed over to Greg's place tonight, he has kindly offered to help me out. I'll post up an update with what I end up doing with this.

Greg did in fact steer me straight. A little reshaping on the belly side of the riser and it took care of the problem.

Greg, I had to flatten the curve a little bit more on both sides to get the tapers to quit bridging across. My bow is in the oven as I type this. Thanks again for your generousity, help, and willingness to share. I still can't get over how nice your shop is. My son wants to build a black and yellow bow like that beauty you showed us. We had a great time visiting with you yesterday.

I'm always happy to help, I was wondering if you got it glued up today. Make sure to let it cool down to room temperature before you deflate the air hose. Tell your son, that black and yellow bow is my favorite too.
