I can post pictures of my dial indicator spine tester I made but it will be the end of next week before I can do it.  Going to Texas tomorrow for a week of pig hunting.

go to youtube.com and do a search for the things you are interested in.  I have found several very helpful videos there including the flemish string jig and various spine testers.

Check out this link to Sam harpers site. Has some great info and easy to follow how to. I just used it myself tonight.
Also look up spine testers in the how to section on here. I built mine from plans I found. I believe I did the 2jays tester and it cost me nothing but time and scrap wood.
Good Luck

Here's the one I use. It's about a foot long, easy to carry around.

My first string jig was a series of holes in my work bench. I used a couple of nails, one set at one end and the other at the length I wanted the raw string material to be. I used 16d nails the would loosely fit the holes, set 1" apart so length adjustments could be made.

I have built a dozen or so to give away to my Trad friends. On my own I added feet to the bottom so I can sit in a chair, hold the jig firmly between my knees and make strings in a leisurely manner. I have made a bunch of strings sitting in recliner watching the idiot box.

Grey,
that short jig looks intriguing. Would you be willing to share dimensions and a winding path for using that one.

I sent you a PM.
