neck knife
« on: November 22, 2010, 09:58:00 AM »
This is a little neck knife I put together on my Bowyers Bench( d;^) ) for a friend. I found out that Josh has a plasma cutter so I asked him to cut out some trade points and knife blades for me. I made this for Josh in return.
The blade is from cold rolled steel and hafted to the antler tip handle with epoxy. I drilled and pinned the handle also plus added the sinew wrap set in TBIII. The hand stitched sheith is from a leather scrap and a leather boot lace.

Hova, I don't know anything about the steel for the knife. Josh cut it out of cold rolled steel, that's all I know. I had given him an old circular saw blade and some old bandsaw material to use but he cut these out until he could work on the materials I gave him.

looks good. if you need metal for knives , old files are nice. really old files are great cause they are usually really high carbon steel.

Hova, I have two knives made from old files by friends that are bladesmiths. Old files make very good knives.
George. I have one attached to the strap of my hunting quiver. I haven't getten used to wearing one around my neck.
  Thanks Butch and Andy.
