Pass around stave for two members here.
« on: November 26, 2010, 10:31:00 AM »
I am going to start a pass around stave for a member here (not going to mention any names so as not to give it away).

I will pick a couple stave's and post pics here and I will send a few PM's out to the guys that I would like to help build these two bows. I want to give a little back to those who have been a great help and so genourous. All it will cost those involved is a little time and the cost to ship it to the next bowyer involved in the build.

 More to come...........

Oh yeah Hov, the swap is coming.

The only reason I'm doing this deal is there are a few guys that I want to do a little something for that deserve it in my opinion. It will be awsome to see their reaction when thay recieve the bow's.

Sounds great,
I should be home on R&R in DEC. I can't and wouldn't build during that 2 weeks. However if the ones doing the tip told me how much antler was need I have shed I could cut some points off of and send it to them for at least one bow. I know the browtines need to come off my rattleing horns. Can't say I could do both I have promised a shed in trade for Hickory stave.

cool idea sticks. I just love givin away bows! As alwaysm let me know if I can help. I'm waiting for Balding Kansan's bow to dry and it still has about two weeks. The hot box is @ 100 and the fan is going. I'm geting antsy! I've got a ton of grip leather the other day from a couple of leather jackets I got from wifey. Brown and black. Of course my help isn't just for grips. I'm in.

I got some some excellent bowyers in on this deal and it is a go.

I will post some pics of the staves and the work on them as I go and I'm sure the other's involved will post pics as well.

As of now one bow is gonna be an osage bow tipped with antler and the other bow may be a sweet yew character bow tipped with antler.

 More to come.........

Can't wait to see them!
I should be able to get the antler mailed off no later than 10 DEC. It all depends on flights. Get home hugs and kisses to wife and kids, pet dog, saw off tines.  :)

I love this sort of thing, stiks! I'm not talented enough to do this stuff but I definitely enjoy keeping up with those who are.
Great idea! I wonder who the lucky fellas are?

The only guys who know who these bows are going to are Me, Pat B, John Scifres and Osagetree. And we ain't telling LOL.

I picked some great self bowyers to make my staves into great bows excluding myself. I don't consider myself to be in the rank of these other fellers but I will one day. I do however feel very honored to have three great bowyers helping me put this together.

I will say this, both bows are going to two fine fellers who go above and beyond as well as many others here but I decided to put something together for these two guys for certain reasons. Wish I could build a bow and give everybody one but I don't think any of us have the time for that.

Hey Stiks -

Before I do something silly (like get busy at work) sign me up for the swap.  I have a plan for an edge-grain osage 2-piece...  say no more.
