New Target/with story
« on: December 06, 2010, 06:38:00 PM »
Being its been a long deer season down here in this part of the USA. I like many haven't been able to hit a deer (I have had two shots)decent, but changed to lighter arrows at the last minute (wrong). I know I know.. you dont have to ask me how I know this. So I go about making a new target for my backyard. All the stuff was free or already here just needing to be assembled so to speak.

I sunk 4x4 posts in the ground 2 feet plumbed them up and spaced them 46" apart. Bolted 2 4x4s across the bottom for a platform of sorts. then the coup de gras One of my [deer-sausage making] neighbor's friends (who is into corrugations) let it be known he could acquire lets say 43x16 stacked high enough for 48" pieces of cardboard. I think it was one too many cold ones on that occasion. (he did come thru)
Any way I put threaded rod on the four corners and let the top float. Bolted tight it holds the cardboard in place. Its wrapped in shrink wrap because of the occasional tropical storms   :scared:  we get here.

So fast forward to shooting today  68"RD Longbow Mr Binghams  pronounced design 58#at 28" - 19 yards, 4th arrow (bottom right went a little wide) So it aint a deer but I sure love sharing here in this place. Picture was taken this afternoon sunny but a bit chilly for us at 53 degrees.  The remnant target material that is just about compost sits around the bottom of the old target in the sand. One other note the longbow is driving those 630 grain ash shafts 7inches deep into those nice corrugations  :bigsmyl:
