Suggestions for bow building kit and dvds
« on: December 21, 2010, 09:49:00 PM »
Can someone suggest a good starter kit to build a laminated longbow or recurve. Also, a good book and/or dvd would be great. Even better might be a FREE website that has the information necessary to build a laminate bow. I have the bent stick but it deals with only self bows and though I would actually like more information about those as well, I believe I would really like to learn how to make the laminate bows. Thanks to everyone, Todd.

Yep - Bingham's has all the instructional materials and supplies you need to get started.  You should first get some of their instructional materials to view/read before you buy any supplies so you know exactly what all you will need.

This site is full of the best free information available anywhere. I agree that Bingham's is a good place to start. I bought their DVD and plans and went from there. You can follow some of the build alongs on here and get as much information if not more than what is in the Bingham's material. It helps to have a good understanding of the process before you start and Bingham's stuff can do that for you. I completed my first bow a few months back from Bingham's plans and I am working on another bow for my son right now. The guys on this board are awesome to help when you have questions or get stuck. Good luck.
It is better to be approximately right than exactly wrong.

KENNYM can show you his set up,it has been posted here manytimes and I think it is on his website.Kenny is a sponsor.
For the woodbows I would get the new DVD by Gary Davis-RATTLESTICK,a selfbow tutorial. That DVD is available from Three rivers archery, also a sponsor.
As stated above,LOTS of information on this forum.
