Sources for staves?

I'm looking for white wood staves, particularly hickory, white ash, oak or elm. Can anyone list or PM recommendations on sources? I tried looking through the vendor lists, but it's very cumbersome as I can't find a way to search it.

Eric,
I traded a whitetail shed for some hickory in DEC. You might be suprised what someone would trade for a stave.
Just a thought.

I'll second Pine Hallow. If you might be interested in osage I would also recommend Gary Davis.

a great source for free whitewood staves is in new subdivisions. in the very beginning when the lots are being cleared. there are always piles and piles of cut trees. get there after they are downed but before they are cut up and put through the chipper. it's best to talk to the builders foreman first. but, they usually let you take a few. try it.
