Verticle riser lamination..
« on: January 19, 2011, 03:35:00 PM »
For a lack of better term.  I have some 7/8" thick walnut.  I am thinking of laminated it up with a piece of maple in the middle.  This will get me my 1 3/4" thick riser.

My only worry is will it be strong enough.  I have done plenty of laminations width wise.. the s curves, stripes.. etc.  But never have I done it the other direction.

So for a little clarification.. if you were to look at the front of the riser, or back.. you would see two pieces of walnut with a maple stripe down the middle.

Then I was going to add my s curve accents in it as well.

Hope some one has done this and can help me out.

I dont do the glass bow thing, but I do know wood is stronger on edge? It seems to me it would be much stronger lam'ed that way.
