got a couple pics while the baby is sleeping...

so i went out like the title says , while my son izzy was(still is) sleeping. i was going to clean up and just take a pic for myself to look at of the bow im currently working on. Its 51" oal , probably right at 50" ntn , white oak , with a 9" handle/fade length, made of white oak and an accent strip (on the belly side of the belly) of red oak.

Planning on a custom contoured grip , with a little different style than i have really seen , but nothing too radical.

Anyways , im going to try to do antler overlays on it , if i can find my shed somewhere... and antler shelf as well...


anyways , enough jaw flappin. i was workin on it sunday morning for a little while getting it braced , which sucked majorly , but i was working it out to around 50# at 11" , and i didnt see any major tillering issues at first , then i put up the paper...jaw flappin , i know...here's the pics...


This is the first pic. I was tillering like this , then realized there was foamcore stacked right in front of me, so i got some tacks ...youll see..
   


Here she is with the board behind it. i really need to put a block on the front of my tree , because with the bow brace in the middle of the board , on a short one like this , it tilts the bow. i didnt notice this on my longbow.
   


So then here she is pulled to 6"
   


Pulled to 11". I see the right side needs to bend more coming out of the fade (there is a small bump there that needs flatttened out and the fades need cleaned up more) . Midlimb looks a little flat , and the tips could bend a bit more too. the left limb im leaving the fade alone for now and working midlimb out...

   


Oh , heres another angle. my camera has a 3/4 broken lcd , so i line everything up on the left side of the lense... i realized i had more room to fill the picture a little better... it sucks not seeing what youre taking a picture of.
   


lemme know what you think. im going to clean up the fade for now.

oh , the left limb is the lower limb , its about a half inch shorter than the the top limb. i did this on purpose , as the dead center of the bow is where the index and middle finger meet. i want a shelf on this , so i drew it all out and didnt really measure anything handlewise. i think it will work peachy...

Hova, When you put the curser on the pic you want to post(in photobucket) a window will drop down. Put the curser on the bottom slot(IMG ?) and left click. It will say copy but then goes back as it was. When you want to post the pic right click and "paste"

Looking pretty good so far. Right limb has a nice bend but is the stiffer. Left limb seem to be nbending a bit much on the inner 1/3 of the limb.

i may need to resize them below 640x480. thats usually the default for bb forums using the ultimatebb code like we do , but thats just a passing issue..


i do see a little hingy spot a couple inches past the fade , and its probably cause i was overzealous with the mill file when rounding. kinda gouged into it at an angle. there was a bump in the fade too , but i cleaned them up earlier. did a little shaping on the handle and arrow rest too... i really need to get my dremel working. the handle i have drawn is going to suck if i have to do it by hand...

640x480 is what you need to get on most sites. Photobucket will automatically resize to that if you set it up. Then just cut and paste. That's how I do it.

yeah they are 640 by 480 , but for some reason even when i didnt do the pictures as a link , it still showed them as thumbnails , so i dont know whats up.

im cool with them as a link though...thanks for tryin tho !

the limbs are almost 1 3/4 wide to a little more than 1/2" at the tips. ill get a pic of the back.


im just tillering it till it starts to stack like pancakes. i doubt ill get 50 @ 28 out of it , but im sure i can get at least 20 or 22 out of it.


i plan on working it a little more to even it out , then just reducing weight.

also , my camera isnt cheap by a long shot , but i  cant change any of the settings cause i only have about two thirds of an inch of viewable space... waiting till we get a cheapie camera then i can replace the lcd in this one.


this bow btw will get brush nocks , and im going to end up putting another piece of red on the belly to take up a little space to keep my hand solid.

Hova can you draw some lines on that foam. It may help you see where each limb is a little better.

Nothing wrong with your camera Hova, it's the way you are copying and pasting to the message body.
Here's a bigger version. Looks pretty even to me, I'd just keep tillering it down evenly till you hit your target wt.
Right side maybe a tad heavier?

did a bit of handle work today. i know i should have waited , but i just needed to get it trimmed a little bit so i didnt forget where i was going with it.

theres a palm dip , and swell here , but it doesnt really get picked up.
 


thats it for now. might get a little tillering in tonight after dinner if some kind of miracle happens.....

and yes , the one glue line is horribly huge. i had thinned the main piece and glued over top of it. i dont know how deep it goes , but it might get worked out before this is all said and done...
