What is considered to be proper moisture content % for a board build?

:confused:    Wanting to know what is considered to be the proper moisture % for a board?  I have found some that would be good for a board build and was told that the boards were somewhere between 12 and 14%, is this about right or to little or to much?    :thumbsup:

I never check mine. I buy them at Menards and make or break a bow! For some reason I am thinking 8-10% is closer? Im guessing.

5% to 6% for hickory. All others about 9% to 11%. Most wood will settle into equilebrium with the R/H at about 12% to 15% so you should be good to start then get the M/C down a bit more before stressing it. Bringing it into your house of some time in a hot box should get you there.
