« on: February 06, 2011, 10:57:00 PM »
This is my first BBB that shoots. It is 61 inches ntn 42# at 28".The power lam is hickory that is 13" long by 1"thick in the center.
I cut a shelf in it but it is not a center shot its about 3/8" off of center.Shot it in today and am very happy at how it shoots.

Very nice looking bow!  I love the handle/riser shape...really sets off the style of this build.  What type of Boo is growing locally in VA?  Is it an ornamental or something like that?  Up here in the cold north (MI) I'm sure we don't have anything like that growing natural...pity.

Regards,

Lee

I did heat treat the belly with gives the boo a great look as well as the added strenght it needs. The boo that grows here I am not sure what it is but it gets very big and is great to work.Still havent taken a full draw pic yet but I will and I appreciate the comments on the bow I am still learning and it will not hold a candle to the bows I see on here.

I really like that. I tried one once but made the last 15 inches too narrow and it twisted on me.

Did you pre-taper the boo to get the tiller?

macbow I did pre-taper the belly and back before I glued up.And from what I have seen trying to build these bows it is a must.If they bend good before they do good aafter the glueup just a bit of finetuning to get the twists and fats out.Boo has been by far the easyest thing I have found to build with.
