Tip broke at the string groove.

I just dry fired my bow and the tip snapped off at the string groove. Can it be fixed and who can do it. It is a Jefferys QT hunter. TD metal handle. In the 70s and 80s it was adverticed for $129.00. So I do not want to put alot of new money in to the bow. What should I do. New updated limbs? New bow? Repair what I have?

i'm no expert but you could just measure the length on that limb cut the other to match and re-file new grooves it'll probably pick up a few lbs but itd shoot

Yep, just shorten the other limb to match. That would be the only fix.

It will never be the same as it was if you try to shorten it. Cheap way would be to have someone make you 1 limb. But would be hard to match the grain and color to the other limb. Or buy two new limbs, or a new bow:)

The tip snapped off. 1 inch shorter. I would have to over lay the tip with something to strengthen it?? What could I use? What type of glue should I use? Expoxy, Super glue? I like the idea of doing it myself. Thanks for all the help.

You'd have to do some shaping to get it prepped.
The over lay can be any type material like deer horn or layers of hardwood etc. The glue could be super glue if everything is flat. just layer it up and use some spring clamps. Then shape and cut in the string grooves. Cut the other limb off and repeat.

One other thought. Since it was a dry fire that caused this really look the bow over to be sure no other damage resulted. Especially down the limb from the tips.
