Skins and boo

Do you have to remove the rhind if skins are going over a boo backer? I imagine sanding sharp edges off the nodes is an obvious one. Thanks

I always sand it down with 220 grit until the shine is gone.  The first bbi I didn't do that and the skin kept lifting.
