Osage Bow Adjustment???
« on: March 18, 2011, 09:16:00 PM »
Ok let's see if i can pait a clear mental picture for my question.  I have a beautiful finished osage flat bow with nice recurve tips.  Issue: both tips are slightly twisted in the same direction (pulling to the left when sighted down the belly)  I do see where the limbs are thicker on one side. Do i try to remove some belly material and get the limbs to pull back in line or do i go straight for a heat treat? Does removing even a little wood make that much difference?  The bow does shoot but i am afraid the string might come off at full draw and release.  Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks Much

I'd do heat.

Once the heat is done, do you give the bow a sanding and re finish?  If i can get this thing straight, i would love to put some skins on it.  Does all the finish have to come off the back before you put the skins on?  Thanks for the input.
