backing glue
« on: May 08, 2011, 02:33:00 PM »
Hey guys,
I joined tradgang a couple of days ago after a couple of guys had told me about it at the Tennessee Classic last weekend. What a cool website. I am building a bamboo backed bow and am curious as to what you guys would suggest for an adhesive for the backing. I had bought some hide glue, but had a little trouble getting it applied before it started setting. I may not have mixed it right. I am new to traditional archery and have plenty to learn. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I use Urac for wood and bamboo, better gap filling properties.

I have been using smooth on EA-40 for everything glass and wood I love the way it works for me.

I used TB3 when i first started, and most of the time it worked fine...but since i tried Urac so that i could have a better gap filling glue that didn't need a hotbox. For boo its the way to go.
i prefer it for all applications other than glass, and tips (i used gorilla super glue for tips). although for smooth wood to wood joints TB3 it probably the cheapest.
