measuring string and bow
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:22:00 AM »
I don't know if I am measuring my bows wrong or measuring the string wrong.  How do you measure the nock to nock on a R/D bow?  Below are examples.

As I understand it,  true AMO length is measured on the belly side of the bow along the curvature of it (if any).....

Then the string for that will be 3" less than the nock to nock for a long bow and i believe 4" for a recurve.....

assuming the picture is indicating the string as the red line, yes.... measure on the belly side of the bows curvature...

yes , the top example minus the appropriate (recurve/longbow) adjustment. that give you your amo.

i measure all my bows from nock to nock , unstrung , and once strung at the sweet spot at brace height.
