poly on bow??

I refinnished a bow with spray on poly, now its starting tobubble after a year.What should I use on it now.Could i use steelwool or should I use sand paper on the spots?Would a wipe-on poly be ok?Or is there another product to use??

3feathers, I have seen the same thing with the spray on poly. You can lightly sand it,feathering out the spots that are delaminating and then apply a good brush on poly over it. A couple of coats, let it dry a couple of days, wet sand it lightly with 500 and then apply another thin coat let it dry and rub it out with rubbing compound. This should give you a really glossy finish.

There are a hundred way you could do it, this is just what I would do if you are looking for a good glossy finish. One thing that helps is to make sure your wood is clean of oil and dust before you apply the poly. Just the oil from your hands can leave a spot where the poly will fish eye and begin to delaminate later. I wipe mine with lacquer thinner or acetone while wearing non powdered rubber gloves before applying the finish. I have also found that hanging the bow by its tip and applying the poly starting at the top and working down helps to lesson the likelihood of runs.

I've done a couple bows with spray on Poly satin and semi gloss without any problems. I do mine the same way LW just described.

It could have been the old finish on the bow that caused the bubbles you experienced?
