calling all bears
« on: February 20, 2008, 08:01:00 AM »
Hey all, I've been invited to go to WV deer and bear hunting this fall and after glancing at there regs I see baiting is illegal and I won't have access to dogs so I'm thinkin calling might be fun, anybody have any experience with this and if so any sugg. on call types(dying rabbit, coon puppy squaller, etc.)thanks for the help.

Wayne Carlton has a video by the same name as your topic "Calling all Bears" lots of good info.
Basicly any predator call will do. Try to find some bear sign, then start calling. Calling continuous for 45-60 min. works best.

I seen the Carlton video and csbullseye is right about calling continuously . On the video you can see a couple bears coming in and the moment he stopped calling they immediately lost interest and started walking off , sometimes if he called again they would turn around and come back , very different kind of predator calling . Good luck , Fred  By the way I might still have the video if you care to borrow it , Fred
