Choke Cherry

Have found a nice choke cherry that has enough length to make a bow out of.  Question is is this a good bow wood, will it need to be backed?

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!

I would like to know too. I have some but I have never worked with it. The indians built bows from it but I dont know what would be the best design for it.

excellent i believe, and the bark makes great backing too, can apply it like rawhide. have never used either, but patB advised it, when i cut a bunch of black cherry.

I have heard of it being a good bow wood. I have a few cut and curing in my shed for this next winter.

Never used it but I know anything with a fruit can make a good bow. Thats what I have read anyhow.

I dont think it will need backed unless it's a small diameter branch that makes a high crown.
