Dad got his gift for Father's Day (pics)
« on: June 17, 2011, 07:05:00 PM »
So I was working on a hick molle for a father's day present and it split... so I was in rush mode to get something done for my dad (who has been itching for a bow that I made).  I'm not sure what to name it any suggestions?

It's 68" t2t and 66" ntn 49# @ 28".  Poly finish over RIT dye wine color with a whitetail antler tip strike plate and leather grip.  Not sure if I LOVE the color but it's different enough (and done I might add) that he will love it.  I would post up a full draw pic but I'm building solo today.  Started this morning at 11am stopped for lunch and this is what I ended up with about 5pm.  Thanks for looking.

I think that's why I like a pyramid bow, particularly red oak.  They're quick and easy to make.  Nice job...your dad should like it   :)

Nice, Goose. I started a red oak board bow for a neighbor kid this morning. We got the outline drawn, riser and tip blocks glued on and decided to wait till Monday a.m. to continue. Hope Tate's turns out as well as yours.
Happy Father's Day,
Stan

I'm not implying that you're God, but Gen 2:2 says that on the 7th day "He rested".  Sounds (looks) to me like you worked your tail off and could use a day of rest.  Just a thought.

So here are the first two groupings my dad had with his new bow.  Not too bad at 20 yards with his plastic compound arrows.  He said it was smooth and shot quiet (even with poor arrow choice).  He said he had about 20 shots through er before the mosquitoes tried carrying him away.

Now I need to learn how to make arrows as if I didn't already have enough irons in the fire.    :dunno:

Nice, Goose!   ;)

I use wally-world carbon express arrows with the plastic vanes removed and replaced with feathers.
Quick, easy, and economical. Use fletch tape to apply the feathers.

Wonder what your dad will say once he has arrows with feathers to shoot?
