my bbo pics (full draw pic added)
« on: July 08, 2011, 10:26:00 AM »
this is a bow i started a while back. due to a health problem i can't work on bows as much as i would like to. JamesV sent me the boo and the osage was ripped off a board i bought from woodcraft. it's 65 1/4 ntn, 1 1/2 wide at the fades,1/2 tips (no tip overlays), the handle is  hickory and osage with a leather wrap. i wanted a light weight target bow so this one is 40#@28". i'll get some full draw pics later on and add them. don

Very attractive bow, Don. Is that a hickory lamination over the fades?
I like the smooth profile of this bow.
Very nice.

thanks stan. yes, thats hickory over the fades. it was not originally there at the glue up. i had an oops with the rasp on one limb, so i put them on to keep a hinge from forming. it saved the bow but i rushed it and the glue lines on it are less than perfect.  :banghead:   it bothers me a little but it's a lesson learned. i took my time with the glue up and achieved perfect glue lines. i rushed to stop the hinge from forming and screwed up. next bow will be better.  :archer2:   don

i forgot to add that i glued it up with about 1 1/2 inches of reflex and after shooting, it settles into a straight profile. so, 1 1/2 inches of set and 0 string follow. it likes my 3R hunters arrows spined 40#-45#.  don

Don,

That is a very nice looking bow, and I bet it shoots as good as it looks. Great job
