First attempt at HBO

I am thinking of putting together a HBO bow this next week. Are there any good build along's out there? I have a osage board and a hickory backing strip. I have read some posts that include a power lam? What is the purpose? Do I need it?
Thanks
Bill

If your osage board is full thickness(3/4") you don't need a power lam. It is usually inserted between the backing and belly to keep the handle rigid. Before you glue up pre tiller the osage a bit so each limb bends evenly and both limbs bend similar. When you add reflex at glue up this will give you a nice even bend to your reflex.

Thanks Pat, my board is full thickness. That makes sense with the power lam needed with thinner lamination or a thinner board.
Thanks again, Bill.
