I'm finally getting around to building some new limbs for a takedown longbow I have. This will be my first laminated bow. I do have a few questions.
The riser, an OL Adcock non-acs, is a work of art. It has the standard threaded insert for the limbs and each limb pad has a piece of brass rod for alignment. My first thought was to just cut them off and install new ones when the time comes. Is this the way to go? I guess I could make a jig based on the existing arrangement, but that seems like a lot of extra work. I also thought about heating them up, pulling them out, and plugging the holes. Would the heat cause any problems? I don't want to damage the riser.
I'm planning on using the one good limb as a pattern for building the form. Do I need to account for any extra reflex, or can I just trace the limb and use the exact line?
