CX 250's

I noticed that a few of my CE 250's vary in weight by about 20 grains.  I thought it was a problem with the inserts so I decided to remove them and replace with new inserts and Gold Tip screw in weights. I used the dril-bit method of removing the inserts that I got off of this site and it worked like a champ. I weighed the fletched shaft and still have the 20 grain difference.  I had no idea that those shafts could vary by that much or did I just get a bad batch.  I weighed some of the other finished CE 250's that I have for other bows and they were fine.  Has anyone else had this problem and will it matter that much?

Most carbons will vary in weight. They are not like alum. where you can buy a 2016 and 5yrs or more later buy another 2016 it will weigh the same.

If 10gr to 30gr difference disturbs you then just add the weight behind the inserts to equal them out.

If your hunting then the diff in 10gr to 30gr will not matter. As most shots are on an average of 17-18 yards.

I guess what I am saying is, it will NOT make a difference. Good luck and have fun.

3Rivers sells 5gr. brass washers or you could go to the local hardware store and get some to get the weight even. I have only noticed a slight difference in mine. As I recall they vary at most by 10gr. Maybe different batches vary more or less...?

I've got a dozen right here in front of me that I just weighed( from three different lot numbers) and they are all within 8 grs.. I think you got a bad batch. I've never seen CX arrows with that much difference. However it was quite common with the Gold Tips I used to shoot.  DAVE

are you sure about the weight I have been shooting cx shafts for years and never had a problem with them allways within 3 gr max I did however have problems with gold tips that varied up to 30 gr each

Thanks for the replies everyone.  I have 3 different batches of CE 250's and one batch had 4 that were 20 grains lighter.  It was the first batch that I bought over a year ago and the other two dozen that I got in the past 6 months are perfect.
