binghams one piece recurve

I recently built a binghams one piece recurve form and i'm getting ready to build my first recurve off the form.  Just wondering who all has built one of these recurves and what your opinion was on it overall. Also how accurate are the weight charts they have on their website? I just don't wanna build a new recurve and miss weight becuase i used their charts. Also how many lams and what thickness glass do yall use? according to their weight charts i can use 40 glass and 2 lams to get the stack but i always heard the more lams the smoother??? Not sure if thats true or not?

I have built 8 58" Binghams one piece bows. For me the bows finish out about 5 lbs heavy. I have experimented and goofed arround with the stack and riser legnths. The one pictured has a 21 1/2 inch riser and a 29 inch long .030 powerlam and it came out at 55lbs @ 28". I also start the limb taper just past the fades and make limb tips a little narrower than their print.

here is a pic of another one I built back in feb 2011. it also has a 21 1/2 inch long dymalux  riser, this one has a 27 1/2' long .030 rosewood powerlam, stack thickness without powerlam was .252, bow came out at 52#s @ 28". the bullets are pointing to the end of fade and end of the power lam. I have been using one 002/inch taper, two thin 020 thick parralels and 040 glass. But on the last build I used a thinner taper and made up the stack difference with a 040 parallel for a total of 4 wood lams not counting the power lam..

I built one useing binghams chart and was very close to what they said it would be. The first one I made from that form came out 10# light and I found they had sent me the wrong laminations. They refunded me the cost. Good to deal with.   Mark

I have built several of the 60" and am pleased with the performance.  I did change the limb profile a little so I had to work out my own thicknesses.

Hey Robert, try that same design with an 001 taper and lower your stack height about .020 sometime.... it becomes a different bow completely with a better DFC chart.

The working limb is more evenly stressed than the .002 taper.    

Adam... you can't hardly beat that recurve limb shape. it's a good design.
