Tillering?
« on: September 07, 2011, 10:49:00 PM »
I've noticed some bowyers tiller their bows for split or three under. What is the difference? Does that mean one limb has more bend or weaker than the other?

If you're building these bows just for yourself, tiller your bow for even limb strain at full draw with your preferred type finger placement. That in itself will set your needed amount of positive tiller (if any). One limb bending more or being weaker, at full draw (the key to this), will soon degrade overall tiller health (in selfbows) and/or create tuning/timing problems in both glass and selfbows......Art

There was a good thread earlier in the summer I just dug up again that helps explain a lot of it.
