I have a chance to buy a Grizzly Drum Sander used.

This is the model:

Will this work well for doing Lams?

Just want to be sure I'm buying the right tool for the job.

thanks

Yes it will work, They are known to break a plastic gear for the feed belt. They may have worked that bug out by now. It also takes the velcro paper that is more money and some do not like as it has a "give" to it. You can take it off and just tape the sand paper on the drum tho.
I hope this helps

I had major issues with mine.  Broke the nylon gear constantly and even broke the worm drive shaft twice!  I never once felt like I over loaded it either.  The most I ever did was run 2" lams through it one at a time taking very little off.

I believe they offer an upgrade now.  I scrapped mine long before that offer came out.

I know other guys that had issues similar to Jerry's with that model and ended up getting rid of them... i think i would pass myself.

Now this one, on the other hand is set up closer to the perfomax sander and i know a couple guys that really like them... Seriously cost effective too.
