Tiller Question
« on: September 17, 2011, 10:12:00 PM »
Finally got my latest bow after quite some time from ordering it but it isn't what I was expecting.

Since it was a honest mistake on his part, made the risor intending it for my daughter but shaped it for a right handed instead of a left I changed my initial order to make that risor with a set of 40# limbs 60" t-t.

Bow came as a 36# instead of 40#.

Making my initial measurements & setting it up I noticed that the braced tiller is:
Top = 7-7/16"
Bottom = 7-3/4"

The top limb also does not mount to the risor flat like the bottom limb or both of my daughter's limbs do on her bow or even one that I've ordered from him 2 years ago.

Am I right in thinking that this bow isn't right not only the weight "I can work with that" but by the tiller being that much more to the bottom limb than the top?

I guess I either do not have this in the right place or no one want's to comment on this.

Luckily for me I have another bow that I believe the limbs will mount to, to see if this is a limb issue or a risor issue.

The tiller is close, thats normal but a touch more positive than usual. The rest I would tell him to take the bow back and fix it or replace it. It would be that simple for me anywho. Start building your own Eugene, then you get what you want most every time!

Haven't had the chance yet but since my daughters LH 56" 27# @ 24" recurve is the same designed risor just mirror image I'll see if her limbs will fit this right hand risor to check tiller measurements & the same with my limbs on hers.

I'm hoping to see if it's the risor or the limb.

BTW:
Erin's bow has dead even tiller top & bottom & she shoots it quite well.
