Boo Backing
« on: September 20, 2011, 08:45:00 PM »
I was wondering how radical you can reflex/ deflex a bows profile while using natural boo as backing?  Also has anyone ever made a laminated bow with boo as a backing with a wood core and glass belly? Just curious how it would perform....

Thanks

James Parker has made all natural Asiatic horse bows with boo back and belly that are pretty ratical. Boo is very tough stuff if prepared appropriately for it's use.
Why a glass belly? It isn't necessary. Use a compression strong wood like osage or ipe for the belly or even tempered boo belly.

Thanks for the response Pat,

Just curious on the glass belly,  didnt know if it would help in a radical profile.....

Do you have some sources on tempering boo?  Im guessing you would be talking about Action Boo or would you be refering to natural can boo for the bell?
