Binghams T/D Recurve Kit
« on: October 19, 2011, 08:22:00 PM »
Does anyone know the hose length that comes with this kit? Will I be able to setup a full Recurve form and use the hose from the kit?

Anyone have any speeds for their T/D recurve? Will I be able to break 200 fps?

The hose from the T/D kit will not be long enough. If you know anyone on a local fire department you could get any length you want when they have a hose that fails inspection.

As for speed I'm not sure. I just finished a Bingham kit 58" T/D Recurve, Bubinga riser - hard rock maple limbs. 51# @ 28". I don't have a way to get speed easily accessible.
Step lightly, and shoot a trad bow.

What he said, but you won't break 200 with a 9 grain + per # arra.

Maybe with 7-8 grain per pound (unless you have a really long draw length).

But don't worry too much about speed anyway, shoot it and enjoy. A lot of bows get sold when the owner finds out they aren't super fast, even if they shoot really well.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Well, I ordered the kit. The only change I made was to request a Zebrawood Riser instead of the Coreflex Riser as I'm not a huge fan of the synthetic look of the Coreflex stuff.

Oh god, so nervous now!

It's been a while since I chronographed a Bingham recurve. I think it was shooting around 180 fps with 9 gpp and a fast flight string, at 28". With a 30" draw it would hit upper 190's.
I agree with Kenny, dont worry about the speed, shoot it and enjoy it.
I didnt miss, thats right where I was aiming

180fps at 9gpp, @ 28" sounds right if I remember when I ran mine through.  Plenty fast, plus they are smooth shooting and fairly easy to build.
