Thanks to this site, I have now made my first bow. I have also learned the hard way how quickly a belt sander can take off material, so it ends up being my wife's bow now. It draws 30# @ 28". It is backed with hand painted silk, and keeps about 1" of set.
The handle is cherry and maple, wrapped in deer skin. I have left a strand of sinew hanging for some glass beads that are yet to be made.
The knot work is hand done by my wife, her own design. The top has an eagle, and the bottom has a snake eating a man (hard to make out unless you have it in your hand).
I've got to figure out the macro setting for the camera so I can show the tips better, no luck on non-blurry pics yet.
I have learned so much from just reading through the wealth of threads here, and am very grateful for all who have posted their knowledge. Hopefully in a few years, I may be one of those passing it along.
